Teguh Arwiko of Widyawan & Partners is our December lawyer of the month for his role in advising Chinese entertainment company TikTok on the Indonesian legal aspects of a blockbuster e-commerce deal.

TikTok will invest $1.5 billion in total into Tokopedia and GoTo, Indonesia’s largest digital and e-commerce platform.

Arwiko is an Indonesia-qualified corporate and M&A specialist who has spent more than a decade working with corporates, private equity and sovereign wealth funds. His practice covers public and private M&As and joint ventures, with a focus on the financial services, TMT and real estate sectors.

His recent clients include the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, Hanwha Life, Ant Financial and TPG Capital.

Arwiko began his career at Hiswara Bunjamin Tandjung (HBT) before becoming partner at the Herbert Smith-affiliated outfit up until early 2022. He has been a partner with Widyawan & Partners, a local firm in association with Linklaters, since May 2022. Prior to being made partner at HBT, Arwiko spent half a year at Widyawan & Partners as a managing associate.
