Overview

Alaya Legal celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, being founded in 2003 by Divjyot Singh and Suniti Kaur. The firm’s core areas are corporate transactions and advisory, and dispute resolution. Sectoral focuses include energy, infrastructure and oil and gas. Its boutique energy practice covers areas such as upstream, midstream and downstream, gas infrastructure, refineries, petrochemical operations and marketing, crude oil, gas, LNG and petroleum products sales and aviation fuel farms. The litigators have a deep bench of experience in multiple Indian jurisdictions and at all levels of court, fora and tribunals.

Work highlights 

Advised a digital platform facilitating patients and care-givers, in preparing a protocol for identification and assessment of the legal risk involved. 

Reviewed contracts and prepared risk matrix and contract management tool for one of the largest full-service animation studios in the country. 

Representing Indian Oil Corporation in arbitration proceedings that resulted from multiple contract disputes.

Work highlights 

Advised the Sri Lankan government on tender documents in relation to the development of a floating storage regasification unit. This is a first of its kind matter in the country, as it could be the first LNG procurement infrastructure in Sri Lanka.  

Assisted an aviation fuel farm operator on the regulatory framework for aeronautical services and tariff determination 

Assisted Indian Oil Corporation on structuring a licensing agreement for a patented solar cooking system.
