Nishimura & Asahi merged with domestic law firm Chavalit Law Group in December 2019 as part of its global expansion and the transition remains in progress. The new firm, SCL Nishimura, will marry the Japanese powerhouse’s client base with Chavalit Law’s highly-regarded local expertise. The Thai entity was best known for its dispute resolution and corporate practices, but it does also have quality offerings in banking, capital markets, IP, projects, real estate and tax. Respected managing partner Chavalit Uttasart heads up the hybrid firm alongside seven other partners.
