Kartick Maheshwari of Khaitan & Co is our February lawyer of the month due to his pivotal role as a lead partner in advising Reliance Industries and its media subsidiary Viacom18 on its proposed $8.5 billion media merger with Disney-owned Star India. The merger will spawn one of the world's largest media companies. Reliance plans to infuse $1.4 billion into the merged entity, resulting in the company and its affiliates owning over 63 percent of the shares, while Disney will retain the remaining stake.
