Brookfield India Real Estate Trust (BIRET)'s $1.5 billion acquisition of Arliga Ecoworld Business Parks is our Deal of the Month for January.
BIRET recently completed the acquisition of Arliga Ecoworld Business Parks from a fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management, marking India's largest real estate trust transaction to date. The deal was supported by BIRET's Re35 billion ($390 million) qualified institutional placement in December, its third institutional placement following a $415 million offering in December 2024.
This landmark transaction demonstrates the growing maturity of India's REIT market and sets a new benchmark for institutional-grade commercial real estate acquisitions in Asia.
Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co advised BIRET, with partners Jay Gandhi and Natalee Nanda leading the M&A aspects, while partners Nikhil Naredi and Rohit Tiwari handled the capital markets matters. Khaitan & Co represented Brookfield Asset Management, with partners Aashutosh Sampat, Abir Sarkar, Harsh Parikh and Sudheer Madamaiah leading the team.
