Tejas Karia is a Partner with the Dispute Resolution Practice at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and also heads the Firm’s Arbitration Practice.

His expertise spans across international and domestic commercial arbitrations, corporate & securities litigations, general corporate advisory and diverse aspects under the information technology law including data privacy and confidentiality.

Tejas has extensive experience handling a broad range of complex, high-value international and domestic commercial disputes and frequently advises clients across diverse industry sectors including oil and gas, real estate, construction and private equity, amongst others. He has represented clients in arbitrations before the LCIA, ICC, ICADR, ICA and SIAC, as well as the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts.

His well-regarded contribution to policy formulation across the arbitration domain endows Tejas with a deep understanding of issues that enables him to present solutions that deliver effective resolutions for his clients. Tejas has advised on the drafting of amendments to a number of key Acts including the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 and the Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts Bill, 2015. He has also been a part of the high-powered committee set up by the Government of India for institutionalisation of arbitration in India.

He has advised the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) for drafting amendments to the Indian Information Technology Act, 2000 addressing data protection provisions.
