Established just a year ago, Vin Cheng & Co (formerly Vin Carmen Cheng) provides a wide-ranging and diverse array of legal services covering construction law, dispute resolution, corporate advisory, intellectual property, real estate conveyancing, family law and probate. Partner Chun Yee (Kelvin) Ng, a former co-founder of Vin & Isaac Lee, leads the firm’s construction law practice. Work highlights 

Acting for an international EPC contractor in a RM287 million ($62 million) arbitration dispute against a public listed company contractor involving the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) refinery and a petrochemicals project at Pengerang Johor. The project in dispute involves Petronas, the government-linked company’s largest investment in Malaysia. 

Acting for a subcontractor in a RM120 million dispute against the main contractor involving a mixed development project. This case is significant as it involves a claim against a subsidiary of a well-known public listed company in Malaysia. The matter has also produced three distinct reported case laws regarding the application of Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act (CIPAA) and/or Fortuna injunction. 

Acting for a specialist design and build contractor against the main contractor in a RM37 million dispute involving the design and construction of the automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) and the building of a warehouse that houses the ASRS for the Ministry of Defence, Malaysia. This case is significant as it involves the construction of equipment for the use of the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
