Representing a multinational low-cost airline’s application programme in resisting a claim filed by the Malaysian flag carrier airline and its subsidiary for an alleged infringement of its trademarks. The findings and decisions following this dispute will add to the developments of intellectual property law in Malaysia as well as in industries and sectors that operate within e-commerce.
Assisted the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA) in an effort that materialised in the raid of a warehouse which led to the seizure of about 10,040 litres of fake Shell lubricants, worth RM111,300 ($23,950). Two local men at the site were also arrested and remanded in the course of the investigation. The successful raid, seizing many litres of counterfeit engine oil packaged under a major brand, was a significant victory against intellectual property infringement.
