Overview

JTJB, or Joseph Tan Jude Benny, has one of the most experienced and dedicated shipping practices in Singapore. This year the firm climbs up one standing in the dispute resolution rankings and debuts in the R&I table for its work in this space. The firm handles complex high-profile matters in both wet and dry shipping including trade finance, industry M&As and investments, cargo disputes, charterparties and bills of lading disputes, marine casualties, shipbuilding, marine insurance and ship finance. The firm also handles a fair number of restructuring and insolvency matters. Murali Pany, John Sze and Danny Chua are key members of the firm.

Work highlights 

Acted for the judicial managers of Xihe Holdings and dozens of ship-owning companies in relation to the collapse of Hin Leong Trading Group.  

Advised FTI Consulting as the judicial managers appointed for six shipowners within the Xihe Group. 

Represented a Brazilian state-owned petroleum company in a major dispute in Singapore that involves English court proceedings as well as insolvency proceedings involving the cargo buyer in Singapore 

Acted for a major Malaysian bank against a Singapore-listed oil & gas company in respect of very significant financing provided.
