Overview

IP boutique Fidus Law Chambers is led by five partners, including managing partner Shwetasree Majumder. All leaders are IP litigation specialists and peers have recognised its growing prominence in the contentious space. Its litigation prowess pertains to trademarks, designs, copyright, patent, trade secrets and geographical indication. It assists clients in civil as well as criminal proceedings in courts across the country. In addition to handling court matters, the firm offers the full range of IP prosecution and commercial services. The GSK Group has consolidated much of its India IP work with the firm. In the past few years, the firm featured in several landmark cases such as Snapdeal v. Amway India, GSK Consumer Healthcare v. EG Pharmaceuticals and Steelbird Hi-tech India v. Asia Fibre Glass Products. The firm launched a pro bono arm in 2020 named ProFidus.

Work highlights 

Defended Phillips 66 Company against a passing off suit filed by Raaj Unocan Lubricants.

Successfully represented Snapdeal against 28 defendants who had registered domain names with “snapdeal” in them and using them for phishing purposes.

Acted for Century 21 Real Estate and helped it win a permanent injunction in respect of its trademark “Century 21” against another company that was using the trademark in its business name.
