Nami Togawa is a partner in Seiwa Patent & Law. She specialises in domestic and international trademark registrations, litigation, domain name disputes, negotiations, Customs procedures and matters relating to the Unfair Competition Prevention Law and Copyright Law.
Before joining Seiwa Patent & Law, she worked in the intellectual property division of a large domestic company, where she gained experience in the practice of litigation, licensing, and so on. She provides services for the benefit of her clients. Having a wide-ranging network of overseas attorneys, she is familiar with the planning of trademark application strategies that include multiple countries. She has expertise in trademark infringement on websites, and the procedures to apply for import suspension at Customs. She also has experience in preventative measures as regards domestic and overseas counterfeit products.
She has been a member of the International Trademark Association and the Asian Patent Attorneys' Association (APAA) since 2001, and has been chairman of the Japan group of the APAA Anti-Counterfeit Committee since 2015.
She has contributed to several publications regarding domestic and international trademark laws and is the author of 'Trademark Law in Brazil' issued in 2011.
She lectures on various topics in the above fields, and recently lectured on Japanese Trademark Law for the Japan Intellectual Property Association.
