Career highlights: Atty. Editha R. Hechanova leads the HECHANOVA Group comprising of the law offices of Hechanova Bugay Vilchez and Andaya-Racadio where she is Managing Partner, which specializes in the contentious aspect of intellectual property law, e.g., enforcement, litigation, transactional, licensing. She is also the President/CEO of Hechanova & Co., Inc. an IP consulting firm handling trademark and patent prosecution, copyright domain name, product registrations, valuation, searches, and other non-contentious IP matters. She graduated from the University of the East, magna cum laude, and is a Certified Public Accountant. She obtained her law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University, and has a Certificate in Business Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific. She is currently the President of the Association of PAQE Professionals comprising of patent agents who passed the Patent Agent Qualifying Examination (PAQE) conducted by the Intellectual Property Office (IPOPHL). Her experience covers both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters. Atty. Hechanova is an accredited Court Annexed Mediator at the Court of Appeals, and an accredited mediator and arbitrator in the IPOPHL. She has been cited as Leading Lawyer in the field of Intellectual Property Law in the Philippines by the AsiaLaw Magazine, an international publication, from 2002 to 2020, Who’s Who Legal Trademarks from 2012 to 2020, an MIP Star, and in the Top 100 Lawyers for 2018 to 2020 by Asia Business Law Journal. Hechanova Bugay Vilchez & Andaya-Racadio has been recognized as Winner in Trademarks for 2017 by ASIA IP, and Copyright in 2019.
