Founded 1883
Braddell Brothers LLP is Singapore's second-oldest independent law practice, founded in 1883 by the sons of Sir Thomas Braddell, the first Attorney-General of Singapore. Prominent alumni include retired Supreme Court Judges and Attorneys-General, and a former Minister for Law.
Singapore’s “Unique Boutique”
We have been aptly described as Singapore’s “unique boutique” disputes firm, with an established reputation as a leading, specialist Litigation, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution practice. We thrive on high-profile and difficult civil, corporate and commercial disputes and complex international arbitrations under the SIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL and other rules.
Conflict-Free Dispute Resolution : Singapore Litigation & International Arbitration
Our counsel act for private clients and corporations alike, in high-stakes litigation and arbitration cases of a scale and complexity familiar to leading Singapore and multinational law firms. In contrast to these larger practices however, we are almost always conflict-free. As a pure disputes firm, without any transactional, corporate or other practice areas, we are able to act against financial institutions, multinational corporations and even States.
Virtual / Video Hearings
Subsequent to the COVID-19 pandemic, our lawyers regularly appear as counsel in video / virtual court hearings, as well as mediations, having received training in virtual hearing advocacy i.e. effective techniques for making video submissions to courts and tribunals, as well as examining and cross-examining witnesses over video-link. Our Managing Partner, Edmund Kronenburg, has also conducted – as an arbitrator – video / virtual arbitration hearings over Zoom.
‘360-Degree’ Dispute Resolution
Each and every of our partners is ‘hands-on’ and a strategist, focused on tackling disputes holistically, not just in the courtroom. We are known for guiding clients strategically at each stage of a dispute, from the point of initial advice all the way through to final resolution - whether by trial, arbitration or a commercial settlement in our clients' best interests. We also often assist in managing the media, or in keeping our clients out of the public spotlight altogether.
International Reach & LEGALINK
We have international reach. We work closely with a variety of firms in other jurisdictions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Indonesia. Being a member of LEGALINK (www.legalink.ch), a global network of over 60 leading independent law firms comprising more than 3,000 legal professionals, we are able to collaborate closely with trusted, experienced overseas colleagues on any case that would benefit from their legal expertise.
Awards & Accolades
Our firm and its counsel have received accolades, awards and rankings in a variety of legal directories, among them: Legal 500 (Asia Pacific), Chambers & Partners (Asia-Pacific & Global), AsiaLaw, Best Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal : Litigation and Benchmark Asia-Pacific.

Edmund Kronenburg
“Kronenburg is a strategist and tactician par excellence, able to almost instantly form a view of the entire commercial, political and legal context surrounding the problem, and deliver a range of possible solutions for consideration. We especially value his expertise in navigating the nuances of Indonesian communications and hierarchies, which helped us to spot meanings and implications we might otherwise have missed. We also appreciate his availability to address urgent issues in the midst of his packed schedule.”
