WongPartnership’s latest string of transactions saw it providing M&A and capital markets advice to Singaporean and international clients in the energy, luxury goods, and petroleum and chemicals, and financial services sectors.
The firm advised IC Power on its $299.5 million acquisition of Energuate, a private electricity distribution business in Guatemala, and IC Power Distribution Holdings on a loan of up to $120 million granted to partially finance the acquisition. The partners who worked on the transaction were Ong Sin Wei and Alvin Cha.
Low Kah Keong was the lead partner for LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton and Groupe Arnault in the combination of their private equity and real estate arms (L Capital and L Real Estate) with private equity firm Catterton, to form L Catterton, a new global consumer-focused investment firm. Rajah & Tann, another firm featured in Asialaw Profiles 2016, was Singapore counsel to Catterton.
A five-partner team, Chan Sing Yee, Ameera Ashraf, Elaine Tan, Dorothy Marie Ng and Bonnie Wong led the work for Jurong Port when it set up a joint venture with Oiltanking Singapore to develop, own and operate a new liquid bulk terminal in Jurong Port, Singapore, for the storage and handling of clean petroleum products and chemicals. Allen & Gledhill’s Kenneth Lim advised Oiltanking Singapore on the competition issues relating to the JV.
WongPartnership also acted for the lenders in the grant of a S$100 million term loan facility to LMIRT Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust, which was guaranteed by LMIR Trust.
