Kenichi Sekiguchi of Mori Hamada is our April lawyer of the month for his chief role in advising Japanese insurance group T&D Holdings on its $3.8 billion acquisition of a majority stake in German insurance portfolio manager Viridium Group from Cinven. The deal represents one of the most significant transactions in the European insurance industry in recent history.

Sekiguchi is an experienced lawyer who specialises in corporate and M&A. He has solidified his position as a key player in this area by acting on numerous significant deals, such as advising GIC on the formation of a data centre joint venture with Equinix,​ and acting for Nippon Sheet Glass in relation to its transfer of its battery separator business to a US company, ENTEK.

Additionally, Sekiguchi is a distinguished private equity expert and has participated in a number of important transactions. A sampling of his relevant experience includes advising on a share transfer of Cybird to Aeria by The Longreach Group.

Sekiguchi was admitted to the Japan Bar in 2005. His international experience includes stints at law firms in Germany, India and at the Singapore office of Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.
