Chawla’s former firm, Atlas Law Partners, merged with Luthra and Luthra mid-August. Other asialaw ranked partners now joining Luthra and Luthra from Atlas include litigation veteran Ritu Bhalla and private equity specialist Niti Paul. With Atlas’ 33-strong team now combined with Luthra and Luthra, the firm has 62 partners and it has opened up a new office in Gurugram.

Chawla is an experienced banking and finance, M&A and real estate practitioner, with a career that spans over three decades. His banking specialty includes representing lenders and borrowers on issues pertaining to domestic and cross-border corporate finance, debt restructuring and refinancing, securitisation, acquisition finance, structured finance, bonds and similar instruments.

Prior to Atlas Law Partners, which Chawla co-founded in 2016 and helmed as its MP, he was a partner at Kochhar & Co and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. He spent four years in his early days of practising at Luthra and Luthra, leaving in 2000 as a partner.
