Khaitan & Co advised True North Mangers to acquire a 56% stake in Max Bupa Health Insurance from Max India and UK-based Bupa Finance (through its Singapore subsidiary Bupa Singapore Holdings). This is the first control deal in India’s health insurance sector by a sole private equity firm. After the acquisition, True North Managers will act as an Indian promotor of Max Bupa in accordance with the guidelines on investment in private equity funds in Indian insurance companies.
