Trilegal’s successful defence of Edelweiss Commodities is our deal of the month for October.
Trilegal has successfully defended Edelweiss Commodities against an investigation concerning its alleged cartelisation in the pulses market. The ruling was passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in favour of Edelweiss Commodities on 13 October, 2022.
Following the investigation undertaken by the CCI in 2018 and the search and seizure operations directed by the Office of the Director General (DG) in March 2019 against Edelweiss Commodities and three other entities, Trilegal has put forth economic and legal arguments before the CCI to ultimately absolve Edelweiss Commodities of any misconduct. This marks the first instance where a party has been exonerated by the CCI after dawn raids conducting search and seizure proceedings.
