Emerico O. De Guzman, the Managing Partner of ACCRALAW, was the Head of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Department from 2008-2014. He advises top multinationals on their concerns relating to employment and related litigation. He assists clients with contracting arrangements, conduct of compliance audits, and resolution of disciplinary cases.  He authored several legal papers published in various international publications. In 2006, he was President of the Personnel Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP). He was later appointed as an Employer Representative to the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (NTIPC). In 2014, he was elected President of the Philippine Bar Association (PBA) for 2014-2015. In 2018, he was appointed Co-Chair, Legal Practice Committee, Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).  In 2019, he became Chair of the Human Capital Committee of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP).  He was the Legal Counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines from July 2019-June 2021.

  • Successfully handled recently the dismissal of a claim for regularization of employment status with damages filed by an expatriate officer of Total from the level of the Labor Arbiter, to the National Labor Relations Commission until the Court of Appeals, which dismissed the expatriate’s petition in January 2021.
  • Led the Team which caused the dismissal of money claims supposedly arising from an erroneous employment arrangement with Procter & Gamble resulting in the equalization of compensation packages among P&G entities. The National Labor Relations Commission dismissed complainant’s appeal in June 2020.
  • Handled the CBA Negotiations with the Union of rank and file employees at the Table Games Division of MELCO/City of Dreams resulting in the conclusion of the first Collective Bargaining Agreement in the establishment in February 2019.
  • Caused the filing of a complaint for violation of the Access Devices Act against a key staff member of a multinational call center client resulting in a finding of probable cause by the City Prosecutor against the respondent in June 2019 and the filing of the corresponding criminal information before the Regional Trial Court. Trial is currently ongoing.
