Dr. Edgar Chen is a senior partner with Tsar & Tsai Law Firm, practicing for years and having vast experience in litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining Tsar & Tsai in 1997, Edgar has been a judicial officer for more than 10 years by serving as the Public Prosecutor at various Taipei District Courts, as well as a judge with Taipei District Court. Edgar has also served as the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Justice responsible for proposing and drafting the amendment to Taiwan Civil Code.
Edgar specializes in corporate, employment, labour, construction and intellectual property rights related dispute resolution. Edgar represents numerous internationally renounced high tech companies on patent right and licensing related disputes, construction companies on defects and various contractual and customer disputes, directors and high rank officers of listed companies on criminal allegations of insider trading, securities law violations, investment disputes, and employment disputes.
Edgar served as the President of the Taipei Bar Association during 2012-2014, the Vice President of Taiwan Bar Association in 2015, the President of Taiwan Law Society during 2019-2020, and the President of Taiwan Bar Association since 2021.
Edgar represented and advised the listed companies with their top management in various legal proceedings, and assisted the clients, e.g., the former chairperson of Mega Bank, to prevail in the proceedings. Edgar also represented international corporate client’s local presence in legal proceeding pending before various levels of courts in Taiwan, and obtained favorable results”.
