Carol (Yeping) Zhu

Carol Zhu is a partner of Zhong Lun’s labour and employment law practice group. Her practice focuses on all aspects of labour and employment related matters, including establishment and enforcement of HR policies, HR documentation, hiring and termination, employee incentive program, confidentiality and non-competition, mass redundancies, labour dispatch and outsourcing, labour dispute resolution, employee transition issues in mergers, acquisitions and restructurings, social insurance, trade union matters, collective bargaining, global mobility and cross-border employment issues, investigation into employment related misconducts and training, as well as due diligence of HR compliance.

Prior to joining Zhong Lun, Carol was a key member of employment law practice group of a major international law firm. Before practicing in law firms, Carol accumulated more than ten years of experience working as head of HR in Asia and China for several international companies, where she was responsible for employee relations.

Various legal rating agencies have highly recognized Carol’s expertise, including Chambers, The Legal 500 and China Law and Practice, etc. The Chambers Asia Pacific has ranked Carol as a tier-one employment lawyer for consecutive years. Carol has also been appointed as an officer of the Diversity and Equality Law Committee of the International Bar Association. She frequently serves as a panellist and speaker at various international and domestic conferences and seminars, speaking on trending topics relating to employment issues.

• Advised a global leading manufacturer of automotive and electronic products on a whistleblowing report of sexual harassment from its subsidiary in China, led investigation into related employees and advised on subsequent disciplinary actions.
• Advised a start-up biotechnology company on the negotiation with its former senior management team in China and helped them successfully conclude mutual termination agreement prior to the company’s IPO in the US.
• Advised the US headquarter of a multinational company specialized in moulds on collective employee placement for its subsidiary in Shenzhen and achieving a smooth and swift closure of the project.
• Successfully defended a renowned multinational consulting company in a wrongful termination dispute brought by its former General Manager before the basic level people’s court and subsequent intermediate people’s court.
• Successfully defended the Chinese subsidiary of a Fortune 500 energy company from France in a significant bonus dispute brought by its former General Manager before the intermediate people’s court.
