Darrell advises multinational companies and large Indonesian firms across a range of practice areas. His recent projects include assisting a multinational insurance company in establishing a joint venture in Indonesia, and advising another multinational insurance company on the potential acquisition of an Indonesian company engaging in the medical assistance business. Darrell worked with a multinational automaker to close its operations in Indonesia and respond to a potential lawsuit from dealers in the country, and helped advise Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company on the acquisition of a stake in a petrochemical company.
Education & professional memberships: Darrell is a 1966 honours graduate in political science from the University of Southern California and Cambridge University. He earned a JD in 1969 from Stanford Law School, where he was on the board of editors of the Stanford Law Review and was chairman of the International Law Society.
Darrell is a member of the State Bar of California and has been admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court and the Federal District Court (Central District) of California.
Darrell is a member of the board of advisers of the International and Comparative Law Centre of the Southwestern Legal Foundation and is on the board of governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia. He is on the panel of arbitrators at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
In 1997, Darrell was selected as a Fellow of the American Bar Association and is a founding member of the International Insolvency Institute. He was the founding member of the board of advisers for and the principal coordinator of the ELIPS Project, Indonesia's commercial law reform project from 1992 to 1996, the largest single-country effort of its kind in the world.
