Career highlights: Arfidea (Dea) is recognised throughout the region as an expert on Indonesian foreign investment and mining laws. Her practice also includes shipping, energy, infrastructure, mergers and acquisitions, and forestry. She appears before the Singapore International Commercial Court and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (as a registered foreign lawyer and expert witness).
Dea represents domestic and international mining clients through every stage of their operations, from financing, licensing and land acquisition, exploration and production, through to post-project rehabilitation. She advises mining clients on domestic processing and divestment obligations and represents clients in negotiations with the government to reform their contracts of work.
Major infrastructure projects on which she has acted have included public ports and private terminals, hauling roads, independent power projects, and a major freight railway line in East Kalimantan. She has worked on some of the major power projects in Indonesia, advising consortium members and coal suppliers.
Dea has built strong relationships with many senior government officials, which means she can give clients the very latest information on the constantly evolving regulatory regime. She is a member of the legal and forestry committees of the Indonesian Mining Association, and she is often invited to speak on regulatory issues at conferences and to contribute to industry publications.
