Fangda Partners has advised game developer Moonton Technology on its sale of whole ownership to Chinese technology giant Bytedance. The firm acted as deal counsel to Moonton Technology, advising on bidding and due diligence aspects, transaction negotiation and documentation, as well as antitrust and IP-related matters.

Formerly known as YoungJoy Technology then Shanghai Moonton Technology Company, Shanghai-based video game developer and publisher Moonton Technology is best known for its mobile multiplayer online battle arena game Mobile Legends. According to Reuters, Tencent reportedly also made a similar bid to acquire Moonton, but the deal was quickly matched by ByteDance.

The Fangda team was led by corporate partners Norman Zhong, Helen Fan and Raymond Chan, supported by antitrust partners Michael Han and Jin Wang, and entertainment law and IP partner Devan Shao.
